Check Out NBC’s New Comedy Campaign & Learn Why There Will Be No More Comedies like “Community,” “The Office,” and “30 Rock” Anymore

We (NBC Peacock) Comedy.

NBC’s latest tagline (derived from New York’s “I ♥ NY” campaign) is questionable at best because of its pronunciation, and given that this was the network that came up with the legendary “Must See TV” tagline. However, Greenblatt hopes the new tagline will get ingrained in the minds of viewers just like the “I ♥ NY” campaign did, and will also serve as a reminder of the glory days of NBC sitcoms like The Cosby Show, Cheers, Seinfeld, Friends, and Will & Grace – while at the same time wooing viewers to their four new fall shows, and six returning comedy series.

With 30 Rock ending by years end, The Office entering its 9th (and hopefully final) season, and Community unlikely to escape cancellation yet another year, it seems like the perfect time for NBC to go under a comedy makeover. But only time will tell if this is truly a comedy makeover will be a success, or just another string of unsuccessful shows NBC develops, and another TV season of lackluster ratings.

This new crop of comedies are not going to turn NBC’s fortunes around. I am looking forward to “The New Normal” though.

They’re not developing broad, mass appeal comedies. They’re still developing niche comedies but calling them broad and wanting them to have mass appeal.
